Highland Resources, Inc. (HRI) is a privately held real estate investment firm founded by Herman and George Brown. The Brown brothers also owned Brown & Root, a large construction company, and started Texas Eastern Corporation. HRI was founded in March 1988 with roots stemming back to January 1932.
Our Founders
HERMAN AND GEORGE R. BROWN were influential individuals in both the construction industry as well as Texas politics. Herman was strong, decisive, and known to be a builder by nature. George, his brother, was a university graduate and charismatic salesman. They combined their talents, work ethic, and ambition to create Brown & Root. What intially started as a road building business eventually grew into the international construction company it is today.
